Prana is a Sanskrit word translating into breath, vital energy, or life force. Yet, its actual meaning goes beyond these descriptions; it is really the primary energy of the universe.
Prana Trio was established to transfer this universal idea of breath into a format based around musical improvisation. The trio is dedicated to composing songs and taking departures inspired by the ancient texts and poetry of Rumi, Hafiz, Lao Tsu, Shankarcarya, Kabir, Issa and others. Prana Trio has released two albums: Pranam (2006) and After Dark (2004), both on Circavision Productions, and has been recognized by reviewers across the globe as being one of the few truly unique and original groups on the music scene today.

"Prana Trio's music unleashes strong colors which correspond with moods that range from barren rawness to lush and dense intensity. Unlike many other bands, this jazz trio of unusual instrumentation and stylistic diversity blends multi-sectional songs in a very organic way." ~Dave Fiuczynski, Screaming Headless Torsos.
